A Testimony from 馮學燕 (Xueyan Bell)

at CWM 7 year’s anniversary (9/20/2016)

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I am very excited to be here and witness those years since CWM started 7 years ago. Before I started my testimony, I would like to say a few words prompted by Holy Spirit. I believe many brothers and sisters here feel the same way as I have. First of all, I would like to say Thank you to Pastor Chen! Thank you for pastoring us, teaching us, loving us for those years. I would like to thank you to Ruth, who has been serving us full time and free of charge. Every Tuesday worship night, you are always there to play piano for us, when I saw you in the light of Holy Spirit, you are so beautiful. Of course, I would like to say thank you for many other brothers and sisters too, for example, Sister Min, thank you for feeding and cooking for us for 7 years, Sister Jackie for making cakes, deserts for 7 years.

Ok, now I would like to talk about my family life, talk about how God has done in my family. As you all knew, I married an American guy. In the beginning of our relationship, I told Bruce that my only requirement for my future husband is that the person has to help me to look after my parents since I am the only child of my family. At that time, Bruce answered “No problem!” without any hesitation. Of course, when you are falling in love, you don’t think things over and over. The reality kicks in after a few years of marriage. There are so many differences, conflicts, troubles when my parents live with us. For example, one day, I heard Bruce yelled my name from downstairs, you know we called each other “Honey” at home, and I knew when your name is called, something serious and bad happened. So when I heard him calling my name, I went downstairs and what I saw was: both my mom and Bruce were very upset at each other, Bruce complaint that my mom made so loud noise to cut some food on the cutting board so he couldn’t have a peaceful time to watch TV and take a nap. My mom was mad at Bruce because he threw out her soy paste she made and stored from the fridge. Even though they were speaking two different languages, didn’t understand what another person was saying and why another person was mad, but that didn’t stop them from arguing to each other. When I knew the reason behind their arguments, I understood that we all have our weakness; only love can solve the problem, not about who is right or wrong. I prayed and asked God: “I want to honor my parents, but I also need to be submissive to my husband, what should I do?” I heard the answer from God: “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. “ (Matthew 5:48)

So one day I asked Bruce to go to Hillsong worship concert with me. He did. But right before Bruce arrived to the concert, he faced so many obstacles that irritated him so much, like the concert starting time was in rush hour, took Bruce a long time to get the concert parking lot, then only cash was accept for parking, he didn’t have enough cash with him, he had to leave and found a gas station to get cash, back to parking lot, blah, blah… By the time he was in the concert, he was in very bad mood and angry. But when the song of “Mighty to Save” played, Bruce was crying. He was touched deeply by God. And he said to me after the concert: “I am a sinner, I shouldn’t fight with your mom, I should honor and love her…” Since then, peace returned to my house. In the meanwhile, my mom has been changing so much too. She studies Bible very carefully and diligently, prays often. One day she came to me asking me to write down some brothers and sisters names for her because she was asked to pray for them. Also she feels loved every time when she comes to our church, so many brothers and sisters care about her, help her, making her laugh. She loves to come to church. For the things people can’t do, for God, everything is possible. I know the happy family that I have now is from God Who made it perfect. No doubt, God did a great thing for my family and me! Thank God! I saw there are many grandparents, parents and young people here tonight, I pray that every family is a loving family, peaceful family in Christ! Finally, I wish all our elders be healthy and happy, every family be a perfect family in Christ!

All praises, gratitude, powers onto our God! Thank you!
